Työni tänä päivänä on kansainvälisesti edistää yhteyttä maailman meriin. On selkeä päätös jatkossa omistaa aikansa myös taidetyössä nuortenkin hyvän elämän kannustamiseen. Toivon näyttelyn tuovan teille inspiraatiota yleisaiheilla meristä sekä kotini Lapin vesien hengestä"- näillä sanoilla Sini toivottaa kävijät lämpimästi tervetulleeksi näyttelyyn.
The established visual artist Sini Kunnas visits Helsinki at the Eva International Art Gallery through her water-themed private exhibition starting February 13th and being open to viewers until March 3rd, 2024.
In these abstract paintings, an emotional connection to both waters of Lapland and the moods of the world's seas comes to the fore. The exhibition is called "Water is a Feeling" and 12 new works are on display.
Since her 1998 debute, Sini has made over a 1000 original works. Most known so far are the black line works and acrylic collage paintings on wood from 2000-2009. Sini also performed in New York Manhattan in 2022 and 2023.
Feeling the element of water and marine thoughts can be felt in the paintings. Sini Kunnas is recovering from a serious joint illness 2020-2021 caused by long covid, so this exhibition is especially delightful. In addition to her art work, Sini works as an emotional safety advisor and as an international communication link for marine conservation. "There was a time when I painted 14 hours a day and I couldn't stop it. Art and new ideas are like life force. When I lost the ability to paint with my right hand for two years, I found even more new ideas through knowledge of the world's oceans. After recovered, it was joyful to choose the feeling for waters as my art subject. Today I work to internationally promote the connection to the world's seas. It is now an easy decision to dedicate my future artwork to encourage the good for the young and sea life. I hope the exhibition brings inspiration with its thoughts of both the global seas and the local waters of my home Lapland." With these words, Sini warmly welcomes visitors to the exhibition.
